Review: MyEG - online road tax and insurance renewal
August 28, 2014It's past 5 pm. I am supposed to be in the car, on my way home now. grrr. but since it's already off work, let me share with you the reason of why I'm still here (relating to the title of this blog post.)
Since I am in Gen Y, I took the pleasure of 'the world at your fingertips' way too obsessively. Since my road tax is coming to its end, I decided to renew it, online >> https://www.myeg.com.my/ .
As most of you would probably know, MyEG is one of the online services that provides online road tax and insurance renewal. the best part is you do not need to provide your car's grant; which is another main reason why I opted for this (I thought I lost it already, but I don't,duh).
So I made a call to MyEG hotline last Monday, around 8 am-ish since I cannot do it myself on the web (apparently my insurance has expired already, sigh). The operator was helpful, I asked her to email me the list of details needed, replied to her, and paid everything in less than 2 hours. phewh. based on other people's review, they said it could been delivered on the same day; pay at am, delivery at pm. I asked them to deliver it to my office since I'm afraid I may not be home during office hour.so i waited..
day 1......................nothing.
day 2.......................nothing...but as I was driving home, around 5.40 pm I received a call from the runner..
runner: puan, saya nak deliver road tax ni. ofis puan ni yang sebelah CIMB kan?
me: haah, sebelah tu.tapi i dah on the way balek rumah ni.dah habes office hour pun kan..hmm ape kata you masuk je kat pak gad tu.then you drop je my road tax kat situ.
runner: eh tak boleh puan, ni document penting ni.bukan murah harga dia ni.
me: hmm habes tu macam mana?saya otw balek rumah ni, nak patah balek pun jem.
runner: takpelah kalau macam tu,esok saya deliver ok?
me: *blur* ...........ok ok.bye.
day 3 (today)..............I'm starting to panic already since my road tax due is coming.so I decided to call for help.
me: hello, semalam saya ada dapat call from runner...die nak hantar road tax saya tapi saya dah balek rumah masa tu...boleh saya tau status delivery road tax saya?
operator: ok puan...rasenye puan boleh la call runner kite, Encik X...number die, 019-1234567..kalau dia tak angkat puan mesej je dia, nanti die reply..
me: ok thanks...
then, I texted the runner saying I need the roadtax to be delivered by 5 pm.see,my office is in Bangi, and I live in Ampang.it took me 40 minutes to reach home (minus the traffic) and more than 1 hour, if the traffic is too slow, which probably takes place after 5.30 pm.and it's Thursday, my husband is coming home tonite and i want to cook him nice dinner okay?
in less than 5 minutes he called,
runner: puan, saya tak jamin ah dapat hantar sebelum pukul 5,sebab sy kene masuk putrajaya dulu...
me: ok.habes tu agak2 pukul berapa boleh sampai?
runner: tak tau lah puan..tak berani nak janji...tapi petang lah...
me: ye petang, tapi pukul berapa?sy nak kene balik ampang, rumah sy kat sana.nanti jem pulak kalo lambat2.
runner: tak tau lah puan...tapi petang la.
me: (dalam hati: sabo jelaaa).hmm okay tapi sebelum pukul 6 boleh takk?sy takut jem ni...
runner: hmm okla, insyaallah..
me: terima kasih.
runner: sama-sama.
and yet he never did called me as of now (5.20 pm).
so overall, I'm satisfied with the hassle free of MyEG online service, however I think they should improve their delivery service.
Kindly call the customer at least 15 minutes in advance, especially if it's out of office hour!you can't expect them to be at office all day long?
After doing some research on MyEG services, I found out about their Kiosk service. You can do road tax and insurance renewal at the kiosk and get it printed and done in 15 minutes! and the best part is one of it is in seksyen 9, Bangi.
Now why didn't I know about this earlier??? T_______T
ps: will update you tomorrow if i ever get my road tax by today.
update: ok i did got my road tax today.but he didn't fail to annoy me on and on.promised to come by my office at 5.30 pm, i ended up waiting at 'Pak Gad' for almost half an hour, until i got so mad and called him with a non-made up fierce voice, demanding him to come ASAP! baru lah die datang, bagi sampul tu and blah centu je.without saying sorry.he should've and could've just left the envelope at pak gad but he insisted on seeing me with a lot of 'logical' reasons katenye.
GRRRR.
Conclusion
Rate of service: (3/5) .minus two because of the delivery.
Would I recommend it to you: Yes. but if the same thing happens to you, just be mentally prepared. :P
